Cinnabon's Cinnamon Rolls

No trip to the airport or the mall is complete without a warm sticky Cinnabon roll. Now, with this copycat recipe for Cinnabon's Cinnamon Rolls, you can get that warm, gooey taste without dealing with the crowds. If you've always wondered how to make cinnamon rolls that taste like a professional baker made them, this recipe is for you. Once you give it a try, you will want to make it over and over again.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 package 3.4-ounce instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup plus 1 1/2 teaspoon milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. For the rolls, place melted butter, water, instant pudding, 1 cup milk, egg, granulated sugar, salt, flour and yeast in bread machine following manufacturer's instructions. Set for dough cycle.
     
  2. After completion of dough cycle, remove from machine and roll out to an approximate 17 x 10-inch rectangle.
     
  3. For the filling, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread 1/2 cup softened butter over dough. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over top.
     
  4. Roll tightly from long end, pinching edges closed when completely rolled. Slice rolled dough into 1/2-inch slices or larger if a larger bun is preferred.
     
  5. Place into greased cake pans or a cookie sheet. If using cake pans, use three 9-inch pans. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden. Do not overbake.
     
  6. For the frosting, combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup softened butter, confectioners sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon milk and vanilla extract. Spread on very warm rolls.

Ive never met a Cinnabon that I didnt like. Those things are so yummy, especially when you get one that is fresh out of the oven. Now, with this recipe I can have them anytime that I want and dont even have to get dressed or leave the house. Cant wait to try this recipe.

I am a Cinnabon junkie! I just love them (although my waistline might disagree! Lol.) I have been making different cinnamon bun recipes for years, trying to find a reasonable facsimile and I am really looking forward to giving this recipe a try! I have never seen a cinnamon bun recipe that uses pudding in the dough and I think that it would give a nice, moist texture to the dough. I'm not sure if my old clunker of a bread machine would do a very good job, so I'm wondering if anyone has made the dough up in a mixer using a dough hook? That is how I normally make my doughs. Is the end result still good?

It's been a while since I treated myself to an actual Cinnabon, though I love cinnamon rolls in general. This looks like a reasonable facsimile of the Cinnabon rolls, and it makes me want to crack out the bread machine I inherited from my father. I think the dough would be easy to make in a mixer with a dough hook, but I haven't tried it yet.

The "real" Cinnabons are gross. Hope these will be better.

I've made these numerous times and love them!!! I like to swap out the pudding flavor for others like white chocolate, butterscotch, and pumpkin when in season. They are always a hit! I've never added raisins or nuts to mine, but I have used holiday sprinkles on top of the icing when I have made them for the holidays. I have been thinking I want to make some again soon. They freeze well also, I've made some in disposable foil pans and after cooling covered in plastic and then foil.

Can I make these using a Kitchen Aid mixer?

I can't wait to try this recipe. I always used white sugar and cinnamon not brown sugar...should be a wonderful smell in my house real soon.

Can't these be made without a bread machine???

This recipe looks great, and I'm sure these cinnamon rolls are fabulous, but I have been making this same "cream cheese Icing" for years and yes it's good but, it doesn't taste a thing like Cinnabon, unfortunately they still have the secret.

Love these and so easy using a bread machine. The recipe is a tiny bit large for my bread machine so the first stir sends up some flour dust. Easy enough to wipe up though. The only problem with the recipe is that it makes way too many and I ate way too many.

This is an awesome recipe. But the ingredients need to be listed differently. When you use the milk, it is only 1 cup for the dough. The rest is for the frosting. Also, the way the butter is listed as 3/4 cup, 1/2 cup of that is for the filling. For the pudding, I bought a bigger box and if you take 1/3 of a cup and only use half of that, it works out to the amount you need. I would also use a little more cinnamon. That all depends on your taste. But these are the best rolls I have ever made.

How do I make these rolls without a bread machine?

This is the best recipe I have ever made with my bread machine. Really good!!!!

For Jeanne WPB - check any cookbook that includes a section on making yeast sweetbreads for the order in which you process the ingredients. Usually, the yeast must be disolved in the warm water first (takes about 5 minutes) add the sugar, stir to disolve. Mix other wet ingredients, including the melted butter add that to yeast in large mixing bowl and proceed to add other dry ingredients. If you have a power mixer with a dough hook this will save you a bit of muscle power. Proceed with recipe assembly instructions and you'll be good to go! Hope this helps.

I don't have a bread machine. I always do my bread by hand. Can you please let me know how to go about doing the dough without a machine?

These taste just like Cinnabon's rolls and are so easy to make. Be sure to roll tightly, though, otherwise you'll end up with a pan full of caramel! Can't wait to share this recipe with my friends!!
